Google summit
I attended the Google summit in the October holidays. It was a great opportunity to learn about al the new development in the Google AI world.
The Key speaker pointed out that AI can be a teacher aid for every student. The theme for the summit was to level every student up with AI. Gemini has a special guided application that will promt, guide, give feedback to the the student to find the answer like a real teacher will do. This is really useful, however, with the new generation being brought up with fast food and instant gratification I think they will use AI just to get quick answers. One of the criticisms and danger is that AI will stop us from thinking because AI will do the thinking for us.
The first session was using Genvid to create short movies. The templates is helpful and the stock images is good to create an stabilising shot to start the movie. You can create new movie content using Ai prompts with another application called VEO. This is very useful but you can only get it using apaid subscription. Genvid is a very basic video creator and doesn't come close to iMovie in functionally and strength and iMovie is a baby compared to Adobe premier pro.
I attend the session of the Maths application called Equatio . It was useful and the applications does all the functions that google docs were suppose to do, but doesn't. It is great at writing down formulas and you can import maths diagrams. However, for a yearly subscription of $300 per student and teacher this is a luxury that can be done another, not so easy waywithout paying any fees
The best session was on notebook LM. this is a note organiser You add all your worksheet, powerpoints and link your videos into Notebook and then prompt it and it make a video ,worksheet, mindmaps and quiz of your notes. This was the most useful application and something I can see i will be using in my lessons in the near future
