Don't analyse statsistics-USE it

Use Statistics to improve communities- Dr Andrew Sporle

We collect Data and analyse it-- but what is important is to use the statical data to improve communities. An example he use was where cancer research and statistics in Stan Walkers family saves his family lives and then many cancer patients' lives around the world.

New Zealand is world leading in combining data from different agencies into data pillars to create profiles of people that is complete. Basically, the government knows more about you that you mother knows about you.

This data is very valuable but is confidential and private. In the wrong wrong hands it can be dangerous and problematic. The big problem is-How can communities access these data in a safe and secure manner to use it to improve communities- this leads to three principals- Data USE, Data CONTROL, Data ACCESS

-

Good data tells a story. It the n leads to good decision making.

Data  must be collected in an accurate way to tell a true story. No hidden agendas-who funded the research and what do the want to achieve

It must pass the CRAP test

C-Current -is it new and relevant or is the data out of date?

R-Reliable -accurate and unbiased collection

A-Author-is it authentic?

P-Purpose-What is the purpose of the investigation
