Giving choice
One way to motivate students is give them choice and make them ownership their own learning
This put students in the driver seat. They are in control of their learning and their destination. This linked to the flip classroom idea where the student take responsibility for their own learning. This will make learners more independent and engage in their studies.
Giving choices can be done on a few levels. Students at Ormiston choose their pathways and have a choice of which credits they are taken. This is done in consultation with their parents because we all know that most students will take the easy road, not the one less travelled.
During class, students can choose to work on Education Perfect, books or on the task sheet. They have to do one of the three at any time but must NOT choose to do something else.
Give them aothorizy will lead the path to independent learning. This will help them when they are going to university or further study.

When they do their assessments they can choose to do it with a spero , Kinext or a Barbie doll.When you do a Bi-variable assessment, students can choose to investigate one of two problems on the topic.
