A fascinating idea was raised  by Silverdale Primary Principal--- Cancel prize giving -- because schools  is not about sorting and ranking  students.This cause a huge outcry and response but it highlighted many education issues and ideas. Giving people choices

Giving people choices In learning and life it is important o give people choices. This empowered them and cater for different tastes, abilities and needs. On a Virgin Airways  trip to Rarotonga, I was disappointed in the menu. They only have beef curry. Compare to other airlines who give you two choices for every item, I wonder what if  you like chicken, or don't 't eat beef because of medical[gout] or religious reasons. There was not even gluten free, halaal or vegetarian food on the plain. My wife is gluten free , so she gave her food to me. The quality was so a low standard that  I didn't even finished my portion. I will definitely mist the Cook Islands again.....but not with Virgin Airways. The same with teaching.  It is important to cater for students needs, abilities and interests.Choices in learning material, tasks,different units and when going to Year 1 different parthways give the student control of their learning.
